Rescued GS a bit aggressive with other dogs - 10/13/2005
We rescued a 8 year old GS from Carson(L.A.)pound. She is great but She has tendency to be too rough when putting other dogs in their place. She draws blood. No dog has needed surgery, yet, but it is worrisome. strangly she is great at dog parks. She will not interact with other dogs other than to smell them, but she does not feel the need to dominate every dog either. Put her on a leach and even dogs she knows must be lunged at and barked at and the hackles go up. i really feel it a dominance and a territory thing.

My question is can i teach her to be a little more gentle when she is asserting herself. She does not have to draw blood to
put another dog down.

We have a rescued basenji too who has taught our GS to play but he(the basenji)gets bloodied every now and then .

Any suggestions?

i would really like to able to take her for walks and let her meet other dogs with worring about other dogs getting hurt.

Thanks for your input

Christina McGinnis
